A: Dec-Approved can confirm that, for smaller house extensions, permitted development rights mean you may not have to apply for Planning Permission. This depends on the size of the existing property, the size of the extension, the type of windows you would like, and any prior additions made since the property was first built. Q: ‘What size extension can I build without Planning Permission?’
A: Dec-Approved can confirm that Permitted Development Rights mean you can extend to eight metres for detached houses, and six metres for all other types of houses. Extensions over four metres need to be notified to your neighbours who have the right to object to the size requested.
